How does counselling work?
Appointments are usually once a week and each session lasts for 50 minutes. Once we have got to know each other, it may be possible to come regularly but less often. We can work for an agreed period of time on something very specific, or also on an open-ended basis. For some Personal Development work, a series of appointments may be planned with bigger gaps in between.
A high level of confidentiality is guaranteed about anything discussed in a counselling session and there are only very limited circumstances in which I would seek your permission to break that confidentiality. We would discuss this more in an initial session or by phone.
I am based centrally within Keynsham, which is within easy commuting distance of both Bristol and Bath. There is excellent public transport within walking distance and free parking on the street. Telephone or Skype sessions are a possibility if meeting face-to-face is difficult for health, childcare or other reasons.
If you cancel with less than one week’s notice then you will be required to pay for your session unless we can find a mutually agreeable time to meet during the same week.
